“Optimism is the most important human trait, because it allows us to evolve our ideas, to improve our situation, and to hope for a better tomorrow.”
– Seth Godin
For about 3-4 weeks the virus was well contained and we were able to go about enjoying our lives. Now round 2 has hit closer than before and I’m back to self-isolation. It hit first at the Xinfadi market in the district below mine and expanded from there. Now there are 2 high risk areas in Beijing with a good number of medium risk communities, which include mine. So, while I don’t have to stay inside, it is advised. I’d rather be safe than chance spreading this further.
I was supposed to start school again Monday, 3 days after round 2 began. Now all schools are closed again and I must continue online classes. It is a bit harder this second time around. Mostly because I was really looking forward to seeing my students again and we had those few weeks before where I was able to go on adventures and hang out with my new friends. So it is a bit disheartening having to go back to this kind of life.
At least there are good things like… they have a better idea on how to handle this, there’s advancement in treatments, and people around here are not afraid to wear masks. So hopefully it won’t take as long as before to decrease cases and go back to a couple weeks ago when I was exploring Beijing, getting comfortable riding around on bike and looking forward to starting school.
If you want to see what I was up to in my few weeks of freedom, I finally posted the pictures from a couple places I visited. Enjoy!
